Welcome Clinical Students!

Job Shadowing is a very effective way to learn more about health care and explore health care career options. A clinical job shadow is a non-hands on opportunity to learn from a professional for longer than an 8 hour period of time. Occasionally colleges will require additional hours of job shadowing as a prerequisite to apply for their programs. Some examples may be Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physician Assistant. Requirements vary by school. Those students requesting more than 8 hours will require additional health work and should use the Clinical Job Shadow form.

Step by Step Process to Obtain a Clinical Job Shadow Opportunity

  1. Select area of job shadow.
  2. See available job shadows and select facility.
  3. Click here to read up on the process and complete the application. Include copies of immunizations and/or lab results.
  4. Make sure all required signatures are on the application.
  5. Review the Job Shadow Information Sheet.
  6. Mail or fax completed paper work listed above to appropriate job shadow contact.
  7. Your job shadow experience will be confirmed by the site Human Resources contact.
  8. Complete Job Shadow Evaluation Survey once finished with shadow. Click here for the Evaluation Survey.

!If you are unable to attend your Job Shadow please contact the Human Resource/Training Department representative as soon as possible. If you “no call, no show” do not expect to reschedule your job shadow.

Take the time to research careers in healthcare, learn about the facilities that you're interested in, put together a list of questions to ask on your job shadow, and study up on scholarships.

When you Job Shadow at a facility, you have an opportunity to put your best foot forward and leave a lasting impression. You will want that impression to be of a curious, conscientious, knowledgeable and resourceful healthcare student.
