Welcome High School Students!
Job Shadowing is a very effective way to learn more about health care and explore health care career options.
Opportunities for High School students to job shadow consist of 8 hours or less. In order to help ease the process of Job Shadow possibilities exploration, FVHCA has put together some tools and guidelines. We hope you'll find the following of great benefit, and we wish you all the best in your exploration of the great and rewarding field of health care!
Step by Step Process to Obtain a High School Job Shadow Opportunity
- Select area of job shadow.
- See available job shadows and select facility.
- Click here to read up on the process and complete the application. Affinity Health System requires an online application, go to contact page for online application.
- Make sure all required signatures are on the application.
- Review the Job Shadow Information Sheet.
- Mail or fax completed paper work listed above to appropriate job shadow contact.
- Your job shadow experience will be confirmed by the site Human Resources/ Training Department contact.
- Complete Job Shadow Evaluation Survey once finished with shadow. Click here for the Evaulation Survey.
*Please Note: (1) An 8 hour or less Job Shadow does not require a TB test, and (2) Health Requirements are only needed for a Job Shadow in the following areas: Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). If you have a job shadow in these areas, you will need to click here and complete a Health Requirement form.
!If you are unable to attend your Job Shadow please contact the Human Resource/Training Department representative as soon as possible. If you “no call, no show” do not expect to reschedule your job shadow.

Take the time to research careers in healthcare, learn about the facilities that you're interested in, put together a list of questions to ask on your job shadow, and study up on scholarships.
When you Job Shadow at a facility, you have an opportunity to put your best foot forward and leave a lasting impression. You will want that impression to be of a curious, conscientious, knowledgeable and resourceful healthcare student.
